Product Description

Joe DiMaggio's spirit of sport: "All of us need victories in life...even if they're only victories over ourselves."
The solitary runner, illuminated by the special radiance of sunset, represents the aloneness and individual concentration required to be a leader in sport and life. The starkness of the landscape conveys the self-contained and lonely aspects of leadership once the echoes of the cheers have died away. As Joe DiMaggio stands alone among his peers, yet contributes to the teamwork of the game, so does every Special Olympian confront both the lonely inner struggle and the sense of surrounding teamwork.
